The Croatian Security Managers’ Society has organised the 2023 Croatian Security Days from 27 to 29 September in Opatija, including two separate conferences. KING ICT was again this year the proud sponsor of the Croatian Security Days event, and King’s Matija Mandić, director of the Sector for technical protection and passive network solutions held interesting lectures at both conferences.
5th Urban Security Forum
As part of the conference 5th Urban Security Forum – Video surveillance of public spaces, Matija held a lecture entitled “Case study: Video surveillance security and traffic in the City of Šibenik”, where he explained the importance of having a convergent approach to security through the integration of general security and crime prevention, and traffic surveillance systems with the detection of improperly parked vehicles within the traffic control concept.
Matija stressed the importance of looking at the big picture in order to create comprehensive solutions, from building optical network infrastructure, ICT infrastructure, to implementing analytical cameras that are integrated in the central surveillance and management systems. “With regard to Šibenik, this is one of the most complex video analysis systems in Croatia, using camera technology based on deep convolution networks and artificial intelligence. The result has been significant unburdening of operators thanks to autonomic processing and analytical data processing,” he concluded in his talk.
17th Croatian Security Managers Conference
For the 17th Croatian Security Managers Conference, Matija prepared an interesting talk entitled “Integral security on a unified platform”. Here we had the opportunity to hear why a comprehensive and integral approach is so important for security.
“Today, there are increasing numbers of threats in the sphere of cybernetic security, and the requirements are increasing for protection from unauthorised access, potential abuse and the protection of personal data,” explained Matija.
Through practical examples of integrating different security systems within the concept of a unified platform, he emphasised the importance of designing and implementing comprehensive systems of integral security that are based on a single platform. Matija explained that through such a system, it is possible to have centralised surveillance and management of the entire system, with privileges for each individual user accessing the system, making it possible to automate the possibilities of incident management, and to monitoring the working status of the system in real time so as to warm of potential vulnerabilities.
“Through the implementation of the Unified Security solution, we have obtained an integral security system on a single platform, which is certified according to the highest standards of Cyber security and privacy protection,” concluded Matija in his talk.
